What do you create? How did you get started and what motivated you to start?
I returned to the visual arts after a long teaching career. I am a painter (working primarily in acrylics, sometimes in combination with pen and ink) and photographer. My creations include paintings, matted photographs and collages, but recently I have started creating purses, bags, cards and coasters with images of my work.
Which item do you have the most fun making (please attach photo if possible)
It has been fun placing my paintings and photographs on purses and bags -- creating "wearable art"! Recently, I have been experimenting with resin, which has added a whole new dimension to my photographic plaques!
What are you doing when you're not creating?
Not much! Creating has turned out to be pretty much a full-time job! But I love music, reading, and walks in the beautiful landscape around Peterborough.
Where do you work on your creations?
My creations are gradually taking over my house!

Where do you get your inspiration?
Much of the inspiration for my work comes from walks along the Otonabee River with my camera, and “en plein air” sessions in locations in and around Peterborough. My favourite subjects could be called “micro-landscapes” or “natural abstracts”.

I am a member of an artist-run gallery -- A Place for the Arts in Bancroft, Ontario (www.apfta.ca). The gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday (and holiday Mondays), 11 am to 4 pm.
Meet Elizabeth Popham at The Artisan Fair on Saturday, November 5th at the Lions Centre and at 30 Craft Market on Saturday, November 12th at the Peterborough Public Library.
